The Knoxville Police Department and Knox County Sheriff’s deputies together are searching for a male suspect who sexually assaulted a woman at Ijams Nature Center on Wednesday, August 14, around 3 p.m.
The victim and her two-year-old daughter were visiting the center when the attack occurred. The 24-year old woman told police that the man cut her shirt with a knife and sexually assaulted. Her daughter was knocked to the ground during the attack.
The suspect ran into the woods after the attack. He is described as being white, 20 to 30 years old, about 6’1″ tall, about 185 pounds with an average build and a goatee. The victim said he has a scar through his left eyebrow. He was wearing a dark blue hooey, a white t-shirt, dark blue jeans and a beanie.
The woman was taken to UT Medical Center for treatment of non-threatening injuries and observation.
