Shooting turns out to be stabbing at Vine Middle School

An 8th grader at Vine Middle School stabbed another student with a comb after an altercation in the stairwell between classes.

A 13-year-old boy and girl were witnessed arguing before the girl finally pulled out her comb and stabbed him at around 1:30 p.m.

The girl was taken into custody by the School resource officer, Vine Middle School was placed on a soft lockdown.

Private dispute between two students, between classes in the stairwell. Victim is 13-years-old and was rushed to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Suspect supposedly stabbed victim with the end of a comb and has been detained by KPD.

Knoxville Police, Fire Department and Ambulances have been dispatched to Vine Middle School, 1807 Martin Luther King Junior Avenue  Knoxville, TN 37915, in a supposed shooting (reported as shooting before confirmed stabbing) that occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. Dec 19. More details to come.
