For many people the notion of a third party candidate beating out an incumbent seems unlikely, but the Libertarian challenger’s focus on how U.S. Senator Bob Corker has failed to live up to conservative principles has garnered substantial support.

“Bob Corker has voted with Obama 61 percent of the time according to the Nashville Business Journal,” said Tennessee’s Libertarian U.S. Senate candidate Dr. Shaun Crowell. “He has voted against the Constitution 40 percent of the time according to the Freedom Index.”

Corwell, who has made constitutional adherence a major tenant of his campaign, said some examples of Corker’s anti-conservative voting record are the Patriot Act and NDAA, which violate the 4th Amendment directly and could be a violation of the 5th, 6th, and 8th Amendments.

“In December 2011, the National Defense Authorization Act was signed into law by President Obama.,” Crowell said. “In that legislation, specifically Section 1021 and 1022, it says  anyone who commits ‘belligerent acts’ against the United States can be arrested and detained indefinitely by our Armed Forces without a phone call, lawyer, and/or trial. This law applies to U.S. Citizens.”

Crowell further details his disagreement with Corker’s support for NDAA by providing the law’s definition of a belligerent act.

“Belligerent acts could apply to Tea Party rallies, Occupy movements, and even a bar fight,” Crowell explained. “The language of this law is so vague that in the wrong hands it represents a danger to every U.S. citizen. Senator Corker voted for and passed this piece of legislation. When elected to the U.S. Senator on behalf of the great state of Tennessee, I will introduce legislation to repeal the NDAA, to abolish the Patriot Act, and to strengthen the Posse Comitatus Act..”

However, Crowell’s pure conservatism contrast to Corker’s big government ideals doesn’t end with his opposition to NDAA and the Patriot Act. He is also against Corker’s support of the massive government bailout known as TARP.

“Where did all of that stimulus money go that taxpayers paid in 2008 that was supposed to bailout the country and get us on the right track?” Crowell asked. “It went to the Federal Reserve Bank, which then in turn sent your money to overseas banks and big corporate banks. Here in the U.S. Senator Corker voted to give the banks $700 billion of your money, your children’s money, and your grandchildren’s money.”

Crowell said he supports free market economics over the current Keynesian polices that Corker has voted for.

Furthermore, Crowell is in full support of auditing the Federal Reserve, another issue in which Corker sided with the majority of Senate Democrats.

“The Fed says that the taxpayers owe them over 6 trillion dollars,” Crowell said. “Some people place this number now at 8 trillion dollars since China has decided to stop buying our debt. The Federal Reserve Bank needs to be audited immediately.”

Currently, Crowell’s supporting is growing everyday.

“Defeating Corker won’t be easy,” Crowell admitted. “All groups are excited about the message of Liberty that I give at each meeting. I resolve to walk in the steps of our Founding Fathers and root out all injustice and purify our corrupt government.”
