Raising children, not mass murderers

David D. Creekmore

In this kinder, gentler time, it is against the law to discipline your children. No one is allowed to spank, slap, or take any physical type of correction for their children. You might damage your child’s psyche. Just because it worked for many centuries is no reason to allow it. Children are taught to call child and family services if anyone even threatens physical correction.

Let us use an example: Have you ever housebroken a puppy? Keep in mind that a little puppy is like a child- it has no notion of right or wrong. Did you, when the puppy messed the carpet, council it? Did you put it in a corner, and admonish it not to do it again? Did you reason with the puppy? Did you deprive it of treats? Did you finally notice that the puppy was grown, and therefore you locked him up with other bad dogs? No you didn’t. You put his nose in the mess, and smacked it. It didn’t take long for it to get the idea.

How is raising a child different? The child doesn’t have a sense of right or wrong. We can only train the child in the way to go and act. Again, let’s look in Proverbs 22:6, “Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” We have departed from religion, love of family, and love of country. How long has it been since children said the Lord’s Prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance at the beginning of each school day? Some fringe groups threaten lawsuits every time any meeting is opened with a prayer.

People, READ the constitution and the bill of rights. It does not prohibit worship. It does not prohibit religion. What it does is prohibit enforced religion and state ordered religion. This country was founded on the principle of Freedom of Worship- not abolition of worship.

If we started when children are young teaching them the proper way to act these senseless violence acts would diminish. The next problem to approach is the violent video games. If we are smart enough to make them, we are smart enough to figure out a way to keep them off children’s machines.  We have to call a halt to this continuous bombardment of our young with violence that is good. They see killing as a reward able thing- not a tradigy. They also see the characters in the videos coming back to life, and killing others. Children must be taught that dead is not only permanent-it is a long, long time.

Hollywood nurtures this senseless violence for the money. What ever happened to the Hays office- that censored movies, and other entertainment items? It is not a First Amendment item- this was to protect freedom of speech- not senseless violence.

Parents- you must call a halt. Take up those video games. Turn off the TV. Teach patriotism and faith, not murder, rape  and arson. When you go out, confiscate the game. You are having family time, and not watching son, or daughter kill on video. Start now. Train them up, and they will not depart from it.
