NY ferry hits dock, 57 injured

At least 57 were taken to New York City hospitals after   Seastreak Wall Street ferry crashed into Pier 11 in Lower Manhattan at approximately 8:43 a.m. Thursday. Two were critically injured.

USA Today is reporting 326 people were on board, including five crewmembers, when the ferry struck the dock at about 12 mph.

The ferry was on a commuter run from New Jersey to lower Manhattan along the East River 155 firefighters and emergency medical technicians assessed patients, Fire Department Commissioner Sal Cassano said.

Rescuers were on the scene in three minutes and have spread injured passengers throughout hospitals in Manhattan and Brooklyn, authorities said. The NTSB is on its way to begin an investigation.
