A 36-year-old Tellico Plains man died when the car he was driving drifted into oncoming traffic and hit a pickup truck head on about 6:30 Saturday evening.
According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol 36-year-old James Ray Cheek was killed when the Toyota Camry he was driving came out of a curve on the wrong side of Fairview Road in the 500 block.. According to the report, Cheek was not wearing a seatbelt. State troopers said the driver of the truck, 61-year-old William Roach, failed in his attempt to avoid Cheek’s car. Roach was not injured.
