A Knox County School System employee has been named Southeast Regional Director of the School Nutrition Association.
Director of School Nutrition, Knox County Schools, Jon Dickl will remain an employee of the Knox County Schools but will be taking on this additional role for the School Nutrition Association, a national, nonprofit professional organization representing more than 55,000 members who provide high-quality, low-cost meals to students across the country.
Dickl’s background includes being a member of the East Tennessee Coalition Against Childhood Obesity, serving on the Membership Committee, Knoxville-Knox County Food Policy Council, receiving the Foodservice Achievement Management Excellence (FAME) Silver Rising Star Award in 2007, Chairman of the Seminole County Cooperative Extension Advisory Board for two years, and serving on the Meals on Wheels of Central Florida Board for two years.
Dickl says his goals are to enhance the public image of school nutrition programs and the Association nationwide; to promote education and professional development as a gateway to greater career opportunities and growth in knowledge; and to support SNA membership goals and work with the state affiliates to retain and grow new members as SNA moves away from state-only membership.
Dickl also participated in the School Nutrition Association Strategic Planning Committee (2012-Present); Annual National Conference Steering Committee Co-Chair (2011-12), Chair (2012-Present); Education Committee (2011-12); Has presented at and attended numerous national conferences. In Tennessee he also served as treasurer (2010-12) and chairman of the Nutrition Committee (2009-2010). In Florida Dickl served as chairman and on the Marketing Committee (2006-07).
Dickl will be representing Virginia, South and North Carolina, Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, and Tennessee.
