We have all heard about the dog that chased cars, but wouldn’t know what to do if he caught one. A similar incident occurred Labor Day in North Knoxville.
Knoxville Police Department Sgt. Shawn T. Neal said that at approximately 1:31 a.m. officers responded to Davida Lane and Merchants Drive to a carjacking. The victim, Broor Swahn, told police he was at the red light on Davida Lane and Merchants Drive when the suspects approached his car on foot and asked for a cigarette.
Swahn stated one of the suspects pulled a handgun out and ordered him out of the car. Both suspects then attempted to drive away, but because they could not drive a straight-shift stick, the car stalled and they both fled on foot. Patrol units in the area quickly located and arrested the suspects walking north on Clinton Hwy. Officers were also able to recover the firearm used in the crime a short distance away.
Jamel Wilson 18, of Knoxville, and a 15 year old accomplice were charged with Aggravated Robbery. This investigation is currently on going.
