Grace isn’t just something mothers teach their children to pray before meals. It’s so much more!
Grace is the inexhaustible forgiveness, infinite loving-kindness, and unfathomable mercy God bestows on us-all, personified in God’s Son, Jesus. Because God has bestowed such amazing grace on us, we are enabled to treat others with grace and forgiveness. Grace-how Divine? The old hymn known by all says it so marvelously, it’s “Amazing Grace” that sets us free from captivity, the bonds and chains Satan immensely holds us with until God’s grace, through His Son Jesus’ blood sets us free, yes free indeed!
“Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners) that we may receive mercy (for our failures) and find grace to help in good times for every need (appropriate help and well-times help, coming just when we need it)” (Hebrews 4:16 AMP).
Grace is available for each of us everyday-our spiritual daily bread-but we’ve got to remember to ask for it with a grateful heart, and not worry about whether there will be enough for tomorrow. God’s supply is endless. Grace was shown to us on the cross. We must show grace on the crosses we must bear. Others deserve grace as much as we do. Let us not fail to be like Christ. Show His grace through us to mankind.
“All of us have sinned and fallen short of God’s glory. But God treats us much better than we deserve, and because of Christ Jesus, He freely accepts us and sets is free from our sins” (Romans 3:23-24 CEV). Some people act as though they were born better than everybody else and have not known sin. But my friend, God’s Word is true. We were born into a sinful world in which sin abounds. But thank God for His grace, we don’t forever have to remain in this state. God’s Son died once and for all. Through God’s grace we can be set free!
“Being made right with God by His grace, we could have the hope of receiving the life that never ends” (Titus 3:7 NCW). My prayer: “Lord I bow before You in appreciation of the unlimited grace You have bestowed upon me. As my spirit drinks in Your unmerited favor, let it overflow out of me and onto others.”
“But He gives us more and more grace (power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace (continually) to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it)” (James 4:6 AMP).
Grace is for one and all, doesn’t matter how high or low the social ladder we stand upon.
“Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another and be clothed with humility, for God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (I Peter 5:5 NKIV). Sometimes young people think that the Word of God is for the older generations, but here God speaks directly to them. They are to respect those older than they and the older ones to respect the young. We’re to be humble, for God doesn’t go in for a “better than thou” attitude. He will also show grace to the meek and humble.
Until next time, I do not claim to understand the mystery of grace-only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.
