An alert Walgreen’s Pharmacy employee helped Knoxville Police catch an armed robber Sunday afternoon on North Broadway

According to Lt. Bryan J. Malone of Knoxville Police Department, at approximately 3:42 p.m., a white male approximately 50 years of age, entered the Walgreens located at 2400 N. Broadway and proceeded to rob the pharmacy.  

The man demanded narcotics and displayed a handgun. A store employee called 911 and observed the male from a covert location. The employee gave an excellent description of the suspect and also gave responding officers updated information when the suspect was leaving the store. Responding officers apprehended the suspect in the front of the store as he was heading for the exit.

The subject was in possession of numerous narcotics taken from the pharmacy and a BB pistol. No one inside the store or the suspect was injured. The identity of the suspect has not been released. He has been charged with aggravated robbery.
