Editor’s son arrested on DUI, drugs

McElroy, Isaac

A 20-year-old Knoxville man has been charged with DUI and drug charges after authorities said he crashed into a fence Dec. 27.

No one was injured when Isaac Christopher McElroy wrecked at 1824 Duncan Road, off South Northshore at approximately 8 p.m. A Knox County Sheriff’s Office report states McElroy was driving a 1999 Montero when it left the road. McElroy was reportedly “unsteady on his feet and had slurred speech. Officers also reported finding two pills believed to be Xanax in McElroy’s pocket. He also reportedly admitted taking an unknown amount of drugs at a friend’s house.

McElroy remains free on $700 bond, posted Saturday. McElroy’s father Jack McElroy is the editor of the Knoxville News Sentinel.
