The driver of the 1996 Toyota Camry that collided with the semi-truck has been charged with DUI.
At approximately 3:33 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 9, officers with the Knoxville Police Department responded to reports of a white car traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of I-640 near the intersection with I-75. Minutes later the white car crashed into a semi-truck on I-640 West near the on-ramp from Broadway. The driver of the car and the semi-truck were uninjured.
According to Darrell DeBusk, Public Information Officer for Knoxville Police Department, Lauren Elizabeth Steele, 22, of Raccoon Valley Drive was charged with DUI, Reckless Endangerment, One Way Road Violation and violation of Implied Consent. Steele was being held on a $2,000 bond.
