Here is a time line of the early reports by the media via the Internet and live from Fox News in New York and Ct. The shooting started at 9:40 a.m. when a gunman carrying two guns made his way into the school with two guns and started shooting. At 1:30 PM it was reported that the 27 dead included the shooter and 17 children.

10: 45 a.m.: A shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Ct. on Friday morning has “numerous injuries” now reported, according to Fox News Live on Friday, Dec.14, 2012. Two ambulances are on the scene with Waterbury Ct. sending more ambulances to the school. The school is on lock-down, but the reports that one shooter is dead and possibly another shooter that’s unaccounted for are not confirmed.

A teacher was shot and is being transported to the hospital, reports Fox News. The school is on lock-down, as are other schools in Newtown for a precaution. Hartford Courant is also reporting multiple injuries including a teacher that was shot. A dispatcher with the Newton Ambulance reports a teacher was transported to Danbury Hospital with a gunshot wound.

11 a.m.: Fox News reports possibly two shooters were at the school with one shooter dead and one at large. The Ct. Post reports witness report that police carried out one wounded child out of the school. Danbury Hospital has been alerted to be ready for victims of this shooting.

Police are asking parents to stay away from the school, but a line of parents is already forming outside the school. They are asked to stay by the phone. Danbury Hospital has received 3 people so far and Bridgeport Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital have been put on stand-by.

11:15 a.m.: Fox Channel 3 News live in Ct. is reporting this is a “very serious” shooting at this school. The area is completely locked down as Ct. State troopers from all over Ct. are “racing to the scene,” according to Channel 3 News Ct. live.

11:30 a.m.: The Hartford Courant reports that one shooter is dead and earlier reports of two shooters are unconfirmed. Groups of children crying and holding hands as they are being escorted away from this school are also reported by eye witnesses today. The school children are in kindergarten through fourth grade, so these are young kids. The school has 700 students.

Stretchers were set up in front of the school which is surrounded by “heavily armed police.” All schools in Newton are on lockdown as a precaution reports Fox News live. So far numerous injuries are reported, which include one teacher. “A person in one of the rooms of the school had “numerous” gunshot wounds reports Fox News.

11:35 a.m.: Multiple reports about injuries, but nothing confirmed as of yet. Fox News is reporting that their source on the scene states a “gunman” is dead. There does not seem to be any attempt to find a second gunman at this time, so there quite possibly could have been only one gunman.

11:40 a.m.: A report of one gunman entering the building carrying two guns and opening fire is the latest reports from eyewitnesses. There will be a news conference at 1:30 p.m. and no details will be “officially” released until then. The state police are calling this a “large scene” according to Fox News today. This is when the official word of this school shooting will be released.

11:57 am: “Multiple fatalities” are now being reported by a town official who spoke with Fox News live.

12:15 p.m.: Lt. Paul Vance with the Connecticut State Police said, “This is one of the worst multiple shootings that Ct has seen in a very long time,” according to Fox News Live. Reports of multiple dead including at least one child are now coming in. Again other than what Lt. Vance said, there is no official word yet. Reports are coming from eyewitnesses who said the shooter walked into the Kindergarten room shooting. Children are reporting they were told to go outside and “run” to the firehouse,” which is adjacent to the school grounds.

1:pm: Fox News is reporting 26 confirmed dead, 8 adults and 18 children. The gunman is also dead, but not counted as one of the 26 people. The shooter came in to the school wearing a mask and he was wearing black “cutting edge” military clothes, with a bullet proof vest. This sounds like a planned event by the shooter, according to Fox News. Reports of police looking for another vehicle with another shooter are also coming from different sources, but unconfirmed. Reports that the shooter drove to the school in a vehicle from New Jersey have also not been confirmed. It is being called “worst multiple shooting in Ct. history” by one Ct. State trooper.
