A Knox County Sheriff’s Office report on a school bus wreck on Tuesday (Sept. 4) says that charges are pending against the school bus driver after 32 children were taken to U.T. Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
The driver is identified as 62 year old Sharon Krueger. She and two other students were injured in the 7:09 wreck on Sunrise Road.
According to the report, bus 77 was traveling north bound on Sunrise Road and left the right side of the road and then crossed over to the left side, hitting the embankment. Krueger was transported by ambulance to U.T. Medical Center and the children were taken by ambulance to Children’s Hospital for minor injuries. Thirty-two children were on the bus at the time of the incident.
The report also says that Krueger was wearing a shoulder and lap belt. It indicates that the driver’s first action was over correcting and then careless erratic driving for the second action. Lynch Bus Lines owns the school bus.
