Across April Skies preformed their first gig Tuesday night at the Longbranch Saloon. As I stood in awe watching 14 year old lead singer Sam Klimas and the band completely captivate a packed out house full of energetic rockers, I couldn’t help but feel like some day I would be able to brag that I got to witness the now famous band at their first show. When a small technical glitch arose, I felt a nervousness in the pit of my stomach that would have most definitely resulted in me running off stage to cry or throw up, but not Sam. He stood strong and confident and engaged the crowd in a way that would put most grown men to shame. The entire band possesses a hardcore, beautiful, fearless talent that isn’t always apparent in music today. Knowing ahead of time that the heavy metal genre of music wasn’t always my favorite, I came prepared with earplugs and Advil, neither one of which ever came out of my bag. I’m sure this incredible group of young guys have a lot to learn about music and the industry, but I am confident they will use that knowledge as it comes to them to mold their dreams into their future. Don’t be surprised when you start hearing more about Across April Skies, but in the mean time check them out on their Facebook page facebook.com/pages/Across-April-Skies.
